Sola privacy policy

This policy explains what Sola (AI browser) collects when you use it, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept and how to control it. It covers Sola on every platform and its website at sola.zumy.ai.

1. Who we are

Sola is provided by Zumy Labs Limited, Dublin, Ireland (“Zumy”, “we”, “us”). Zumy Labs Limited is being incorporated in Ireland; until registration is complete, Zumy is run by its founder, who is responsible for these commitments, and the company takes them over once it is registered. We decide how and why your information is used (we are the “controller”). Contact us about privacy at hello@zumy.ai.

2. What we collect

What stays on your device: your browsing history (unless you turn on history sync), open tabs, cookies, saved passwords and form data are kept by the browser on your device. Sola does not collect your precise location, contacts or photos, and has no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting trackers.

3. How we use it

4. The Assistant and AI processing

The Assistant reads a page only when you ask. When you ask a question, Sola sends your question, the relevant text of the current page or the tabs you choose, any text you selected, and the earlier messages in the thread to our servers, which send them to an AI model provider: Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, depending on the model used. Page text is used only to answer and is not stored; with the answer we keep only the page's address and title, so you can see your sources.

Voice. On Mac, Windows and Linux, what you dictate is sent to OpenAI to be turned into text, and the transcript is not logged. On iPhone and iPad, Apple's speech recognition is used; on Android, your device's speech recogniser.

Web search. To find sources, Sola sends your search query, without your identity, to a search provider (Brave).

AI providers process this data only to return the answer, under terms that do not allow them to train their models on it. We do not use your browsing, questions or files to train AI models.

5. Memory

Memory is on by default. After an answer, Sola may save up to three short facts about you that will help later answers (for example, a language you prefer). You can see, edit and delete memories, or turn Memory off, in Settings.

6. Incognito

In an incognito window, Sola saves no thread, memory or history from your AI chats, and those requests are stripped of identifying details in our logs. We keep only a count of incognito answers per day, with no content, to apply plan limits.

7. Computer mode (acting in the browser)

When you ask Sola to do something in the browser, it can open pages, read them, click, type, scroll and fill in forms. Reading pages and opening links happens on its own. Filling in a field needs your approval. Sending, deleting, buying and entering payment details always need your confirmation, every time. Sola is blocked from reading or filling password and one-time-code fields, and never sees the values of saved passwords. Each session is limited in steps and time, and an approval you do not give within 5 minutes expires.

8. Connected services

You can connect Google Calendar so the Assistant can answer questions about your schedule. Sola asks only for read-only access to your calendar (plus your email address to show which account is connected). The access token is encrypted before it is stored. Disconnect it at any time in Settings → Connectors.

Sola's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Calendar data is used only to answer your questions in Sola, is sent only to the AI provider answering you, is never used for advertising or to train AI models, and is not read by people at Zumy Labs Limited unless you ask us to, it is needed for security, or the law requires it.

9. Browser features

Sola is built on the open-source Chromium project. We switched off the Google services that Chrome adds: Google sign-in and sync, the Translate offer, sending feedback reports to Google, Gemini and Lens. Sola's default search engine is Sola's own answer page; you can choose another in Settings. If Safe Browsing is turned on in Settings, the browser checks addresses against Google's list of dangerous sites, which sends partial hashes of addresses to Google.

10. Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers below, who process it on our instructions and under contracts that require them to protect it, and only as much as each needs.

11. Legal bases (EU, UK and similar laws)

Where the law asks us to name a reason for each use of your information, these are ours:

12. How long we keep it

13. Security

Information is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Access inside Zumy is limited to the people who need it to run Sola. Tokens for connected services and Sign in with Apple are encrypted separately. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

14. Where your information is stored

Sola's servers run on Amazon Web Services in Ireland (EU). Some providers listed above process data in the United States or other countries. When information leaves the EU or UK, we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, the UK addendum, or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified.

15. Children

Sola is not made for children. You must be at least 13 to create an account, or older if the law where you live requires it. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, write to hello@zumy.ai and we will delete it.

16. Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

To get a copy of your data, write to hello@zumy.ai; until a self-service export is available in Sola, we prepare it for you within 30 days.

Write to hello@zumy.ai from the email address on your account, or delete your account. We answer within 30 days and never charge for it. If you are in the EU, UK or another place with a data protection authority, you can also complain to that authority. California residents have the same rights under the CCPA/CPRA; we do not sell or “share” personal information as those laws define it.

17. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we tell you in Sola or by email before it takes effect.

18. Contact

hello@zumy.ai. Please say that your question is about Sola.
